Roll Over

Roll Over is a fast-paced game where you take control of a runaway grenade rolling down a perilous path through the ruins of a war-torn, dystopian city. Your objective? Prevent the grenade from exploding and jeopardizing the city's fragile hope of recovery.

As the grenade speeds downhill, you'll encounter a series of obstacles that you must skilfully deflect by clicking them away. The challenge intensifies as the grenade's momentum increases, demanding ever-quicker reflexes and precise timing. Failure to clear the path in time results in a devastating explosion, dashing the city's dream of rebirth.

Roll Over was a collaborative effort with my team at university. Through discussions, we established clear roles, with me taking responsibility for both scene design and development, as well as level development.

My primary focus was on ensuring button functionality and managing screen transitions during gameplay. I thoroughly enjoyed this module, finding particular satisfaction in creating my first mobile AI game with successful emulation across various devices, including iPads, iPhones and the Google Pixel 4. I'm highly motivated to continue expanding my knowledge in this development field.

Project Concept

Before commencing work on the main game's diverse levels, I opted to sharpen my skills by developing a prototype on a pre-configured Android emulator. Initially, I encountered an error hindering the download of my APK file. After meticulous troubleshooting, I successfully rectified the issue (as demonstrated in the photo to the right).

Driven by curiosity, I embarked on exploring the emulator's compatibility with 3D games. I constructed a basic design within Unity to evaluate its functionality within the emulator environment. I was impressed by the seamless visual transition from the Unity editor, although the inclusion of a 3D background was an unexpected surprise.
